The infrared sauna

Thirty minutes of gentle, dry warmth in a room built for exactly that. Not an afterthought bolted onto a gym: a Clearlight infrared sauna in its own recovery area, with its own entrance, capped at three people a session.

Why infrared

A traditional sauna heats the air; infrared heats you. The room sits at a temperature most people find easy, so you can stay the full half hour and actually relax.

Members use it the way Mediterranean cultures use the evening walk: as a daily way to slow down, loosen up and sleep better. After a Strength class it's the best thing on the timetable. On a wet Tuesday with no class at all, it's still worth the trip.

We chose Clearlight because it's widely considered one of the best on the market, and we gave it a room of its own so it feels like the recovery space it is, not a cupboard off the change rooms.

Sauna questions

Do I need to do a class to use the sauna?

No. Sauna sessions are booked separately from classes, and the recovery area has its own entrance at the rear of the studio, so you can come and go without interrupting a class.

How do I book?

In the Sento Club app, the same way you book a class. You book a seat in a 30-minute session. Starters get four sessions in their 28 days.

Is it shared?

Yes, by design. The sauna seats four but we cap sessions at three, so there's room to stretch out. You might come with a friend, or leave with one.

What do I bring?

Just yourself and a water bottle. Towels are provided and there's a shower. [Henry to confirm towels and shower]

Who should skip it?

The infrared sauna is off-limits during pregnancy. If you have a heart condition, are unwell, or are unsure, check with your doctor first.
